All the luck in the world
I recently discovered All the luck in the world (via the great finish blog Varpunen). A webshop filled with beautiful re-cycled things. You can buy them or get inspired to start doing something similar yourself. Via the blog I found these pics of the owner’s home:

Table cloth or pillow case?
Found this beautiful fabric in a second hand store the other day. I love it’s pixelated feeling. Don’t know yet what to do with it; use it as a table cloth as above, a bed spread for one of the kids beds or perhaps sew pillow cases of it?

Re-made drawer
I love this re-made drawer from Briggs Lekehus so much I might steal the idea:
Here’s the drawer before the makeover, pretty ordinary looking:
The dollhouse is equally great!

Nice article in DN
Found a nice article with cool pictures of a retro home in the Swedish newspaper DN:

Rearranging
We’ve bought some new illustrations lately, so today we’ve spent some time rearranging our walls again.
Pippi Longstocking-illustrations (from our trip to Astrid Lindgrens värld).
Mike Stimpson
Owls above Eowyn’s notice-board (we found the latter while thrifting).
Amelie now lives in our bedroom.
Two Madame Mos has moved into Ester’s room.

The downside of shopping second hand
Sometimes I just hate shopping second hand. When you know exactly what you want and everybody else wants the exact same thing (no, I’m not pretending that my taste is the least bit original). Like a nice vintage sofa for example. Just lost the bidding on this one on Lauritz:
And late last night I found two other sofas on Blocket. Perfect, really close by and not too cheap so that they...

Once again really inspiring images from Freunde von Freunden. And look, they have the same lamp as us! :-)

Thrifting
Yesterday morning it was raining so Eo and I decided to go thrifting. We went to two different stores. Here are some of our findings.
A turquoise tray
The mirror in the middle (note: the turquoise shelf to the left is also new - got it during our Denmark-trip and then re-painted it)
A “lotto”-game
The only thing I don’t like about thrift stores is that most of them, at least...

Retro living
Today, Eowyn and I are visiting Erikshjälpens second hand store here in Gothenburg. Via their blog Retro living I found Andreas and Carolines’ home, where most things are second hand:

New stroller and a super hero show
The last couple of days have been good. Amongst other things we’ve found a really nice second hand stroller. And we’ve been to see two of Eowyn’s idols, two super heroes called Supersnällasilversara and Stålhenrik. They gave a superhjältekonsert (=super hero concert) up in Trollhättan. Here we are going home from the show. Today I’ve promised to sew a super hero cape for...

Things to do on a rainy day
Today it’s been raining a lot here in Gothenburg, so we’ve been playing inside most of the day. We’ve been playing hide and seek, football, doing jigsaw puzzles and, currently, I’m playing with a new camera app (Fx Camera) for my android phone:
I’ve also finished painting Ester’s table:

Unless I had a cat...
In my search for a vintage sofa I’ve stumbled upon lots of other cool furniture. Unless we had a cat I would definitely consider getting a couple of these:

A great way to hide a TV
I’m not much of a fan of big TVs that form the centerpiece of the livingroom. But I still like to have one. I really like how Dennis and Mette, with the blog ungt blod, has “hidden” their TV on a shelf where it blends in with books and other stuff:

Another favorite blog
I found itsallvintage quite recently and I just love it. It’s filled with lots of retro and vintage inspiration (I especially like the visits) and, on top of that, the writers, Annika & Lovisa seem to share most of my opinions and my view of life in general.
Check out this DIY hook strip they did:
The second hand hangers are also really great.

Souvenirs from Denmark
This week we’ve visited Denmark and Legoland. It was a very nice trip and we all enjoyed it.
Here are some of the souvenirs we took home:
Free postcards from a café in Aalborg
Toy story fridge magnets and lego-stylee salt and pepper dispensers
A pirate flag and lots of little lego bricks
Keychains with Yoda, R2-D2 and a classic lego spaceman

Apparat
When I lived in Stockholm, I used to work near by a wonderfull store called Apparat, filled with really cool vintage stuff, often with an industrial feel. Now they have closed the store, but continues on as interior design company, with focus on functionalistic kitchens and decoration. Here are some pictures from their web site. The lamps in the arch are a favorite of mine.

Here’s what the bedspread looks like on the other side. I don’t really know which side I like better. Kind of like them both.

Tintin et Milou
I got Tintin and Milou as a gift from Johan the other day! I love both action figures, Tintin, and space/science fiction, so of course I adore these two in their little orange space suits. Eowyn commented on the oxygen tubes: “There are their drinking bottles.” She was quite pleased that even the dog had its own backpack and drinking bottle with him.
Even though they’re mine...

Dreaming
Started off my vacation today, by going swiming in a lake near by. Or actually, compared to the great summer house I just found for sale, the lake wasn’t near by at all. :-) The summer house had it’s own beach just outside the front door. Wouldn’t that be something?!
Today I’m also dreaming of a vintage 60ies leather/wood sofa, much like the one in the apartment below. A...

Pictures, pictures, pictures...
I’ve framed some more old photos today. The plan is to create a wall filled with pictures of our relatives. We just don’t know where to put it yet, since we’re running out of walls, sort of. Perhaps we should spread them out?
The big wedding pictures are of my mum and dad and the pretty girl in the white hat is also my mum, from her high school graduation.

Mike Stimpson - totally awesome!
We finally made an order for some of Mike Stimpson’s star wars-photos. I’ve been wanting them for some time now, so I’m very pleased. They’re totally awesome (btw, we went to a children’s play the other day, starring Mr Totally Awesome, superhero. Do I need to say it was brilliant?…)!

Glad midsommar!
This weekend we’ve celebrated midsommar (=midsummer), which is a big holiday here in Sweden. You it herring and strawberries, drink snaps, and, if you’re under the age of five at least, you dance silly dances around one of these (no I don’t mean Ester, but the big pole-thingie in the background):
Ester had a very cool clover-dress, that I got for Eowyn when she was little,...

Cabinet from Ellos
Instead of the Tolix-drawer we found this nice (and cheap!) cabinet from Ellos.
I instantly filled it with fabrics and other sewing stuff. I just hope that Ester won’t find it right away… She’s quite a little menace right now. :-)

Nintendo
Our latest second hand-buy - a gigantic Nintendo-sign. We love it!
We also love our new venetian blinds, that we had put in today. They’re much neater that the old ones.

Bungalow bedspread
Having looked for a second hand bedspread for a while, without finding anything we liked, I gave up and ordered a beautiful block printed bedspread from Danish company Bungalow the other day (via Swedish web shop Broarne). They’re hand printed and sewn in India. Block printing is supposed to be environmental friendly as well, although I must say I sort of fell in love with it so I...

Slow Sunday
Yesterday we went to a wedding, so today we’re pretty tired. Johan is vacuumcleaning with a little help from Ester, Eowyn is doing her Pippi-jigsaw puzzle and I’m enjoying having a brand new battery for my Macbook. Lovely to once more have a computer that lasts more than half an hour without plugging in the power cord.
Here are some pictures from Rice to brighten up this slow Sunday.

Retro playhouse
Family Living came out with a new issue yesterday, and it was as good as always. This little playhouse was really cool (they also seem to have launched a new website - check it out).

Reuse
Now that we’ve gotten ourselves a new coffee table for our livingroom, we got the old table, which actually consisted of two small tables, over. Since they we’re quite perfect in size for a kids table one of them has moved into Ester’s room. I’m thinking that I might paint it or perhaps do some decoupage on the table top later on.

Saturday night
Today we’ve visited a zoo, situated in a city near by. It was a very nice trip and the weather was great. The biggest event was probably that Eowyn gave up her pacifiers to the animal babies. We’d discussed this a while and she was quite ok with it. Except that she got scared by a friendly goat, so Johan had to step in and give the pacifiers away for her. :-)
Right now we’re...

Old and new photos
Finally, we’ve printed and framed some photos of the kids. The one in the middle however is an old photo of my grandparents and my grandma’s sister. I really like how they are sitting in the middle of a meadow.
I have a small collection of old pictures of relatives of mine, that are waiting to be framed. This one was the only one that came with a frame though. Hopefully Johan can...

Enzo Mari's Formosa
We’ve been looking for a wall calendar, but without finding a nice one, probably since it’s the wrong season, everything is sold out except the most hideous ones.
One calendar that I really like is Formosa from Enzo Mari:
They’re available at the store Aschebergsgatan 24 here in Gothenburg, which I pass by every time I leave Eowyn at daycare, but never have time to go in to...

Like a gigantic garage sale
Today our whole neighbourhood turned into a gigantic garage sale/flea market. Everyone was encouraged to set up their own stands right about anywhere, on sidewalks, in parks etc.
This was the view from our window earlier today:
We didn’t sell anything this time, since we moved quite recently and got rid of a lot of stuff then. Instead we walked around and spent the 300 SEK I had in cash....

Great kitchen
I really like this kitchen, especially the light, the open shelves and the combination of different chairs.
Hmm, I wonder if Eames-chairs are cat-proof; i.e. if they can resist scratch marks? Seems like they might be both kids- and cat-proof. By the way, how come you always see cats in pictures like these, but the furniture and stuff always seem to be in perfect condition? I realize that...

Birthday Party!
Today we have celebrated the birthdays of our two daughters (which in reality occurs during next week). Eowyn turns 3 years and Ester turns 1. Hurray!
This is us waiting for the guests to arrive.
The two yellow table cloths are thrifted at Myrorna. They didn’t cover the entire table so we used some left over fabrics in between.
Balloons are the best thing ever!

Birthday party and a local flea market
This weekend will be pretty busy. Tomorrow we’ll be celebrating both Eowyn’s and Ester’s birthdays with a birthday party. They’re turning three and one next week. Eowyn is getting some stuff for her “kitchen”, i.e. the little Brio stove she got for christmas. Here’s a small shelf I bougth second hand, and pimped with some paper. It’ll be perfect...

Playing in the yard
One of the best things about our current apartment is the yard outside. Actually there are four really cozy, interconnected yards, with closed doors to the outside streets, which is very nice when you have small kids, like we do. On the fartherst yard there is a kindergarten, where Eowyn and Ester will start this fall. I just love how close by everything is here.
This weekend the weather has been...

Pretty comfortable dress - by Pop
About a year ago Pop boutique opened up a shop here in Gothenburg. They sell vintage furniture, ceramics and vintage clothing as well as their own clothing label Pop, which, according to their web site, is made with ethics in mind and, in some cases, from recycled fabrics.
The other day I went in and found a dress for the wedding we’re going to in a couple of weeks. I like wearing dresses,...

Some old-new things around here
Tonight I’m eating the new ballerina kladdkaka-cookies from a new, but old tray (from snyggt igen).
The kitchen window has gotten a new pot plant on a second hand glass plate.
The Babar-posters has been laying around for a while - but now they’ve gotten brand new frames and a place in Ester’s room.
Today my dad brought us my old doll stroller. We’re gonna fix it up...

Second hand hat for Ester
I wish I could say that I had sewn this pretty hat myself.. But I haven’t :) Found it during my Stockholm trip at a second hand store with children clothes. It fits her perfectly though and the colors and pattern are really cool.
And today we did some more second hand shopping. Johan found a really nice suit, a shirt and a pair of jeans in one of the city’s better second hand...

Vintage stroller?
Now that Ester is getting a bit bigger and Eowyn is so big that she can walk almost everwhere we feel it’s perhaps time to get rid of the sibling-pram and getting ourselves a cool vintage stroller. I’m searching the online second hand market for one, perhaps something like this? Unfortunately that was’t anywhere near here… Seems they’re pretty hard to find. :-/ I wish...

Ira Denmark
Yesterday we had some friends over for dinner. Got this cookie jar from Ira Denmark as a moving in present - filled with cookies! Don’t you just love it when your friends know exactly what you like? :-) I think that my dad has some more Ira Denmark jars at his place, I think I’ll have a look next time we’re visiting.
