Things to do on a cold day
We’ve had pretty cold weather here in Sweden the past couple of days (-10C) so we’ve mostly been inside. Luckily there are many things to do inside on a cold day. I might have mentioned before that we love to paint and build with Lego?…

Around the apartment today
Some pics from around the apartment today. The kids are ill so I’m staying home with them. The shelf in the kids’ room (they are sharing a room now) is almost finished.  The new shelf in the kids’ room, and an airplane Star wars pictures and Ester in the kitchen Lego salt’n’pepper and the kids watching Tintin Two kids under a table, and Tinkerbell and a Lion ...

Handles
I really liked Karin Mannerstål’s inspiration on how to make different handles for a drawer on the last episode of the Swedish TV-show Äntligen Hemma. Especially these ones: Perhaps something like that for the kid’s new shelf? Instead of the duct tape handles we are currently using… (image via TV4)

Now on Instagram
I entered a quiz yesterday on a work conference, and won an IPod Touch. Which means I’m now also on Instagram (follow me as sofiajon). The only app I really miss on my Android phone. Today I picked the kids up early - we’re playing with dough and watching Fixa Rummet right now.

Finally Friday!
I’m at home with a cold, and the apartment is in an even bigger mess than usual - BUT we have some new plants that haven’t died just yet, the sun is shining while I’m listening to Morrissey and the weekend is coming up. Not too bad.

New shelves
Instead of traditional wardrobes we went for Bestå shelves from Ikea for Eowyn’s room. They are less deep than a wardrobe but instead they will very nicely cover the entire wall (at least I hope so). We ordered them today online, and I can’t wait until we get them. Hopefully the end result will look something like this:   (image Stadshem)

Lazy days
On monday our Christmas break will be over, and we’ll go back to work and daycare. But for now we’re enjoying being at home and playing with all our Christmas gifts.

Gårdsbutik Göteborg
We just decided to try out our first home delivery grocery shopping (which apparently has become extremely popular here in Sweden, it was even supposed to be the Christmas present this year).  For us it’s not that important to get our groceries delivered to the door any more, since we nowadays have good stores on walking distance, including stores that specializes in organic and locally...

Gone skiing
We’ve just got back home from a week in the mountains with some good friends, where we’ve been skiing, sledding, had snowball fights, celebrating new year’s eve, and much more. Lovely to see some snow - we haven’t seen any of that here in Gothenburg yet this year.  Right now we’re cleaning out all Christmas decorations around the apartment. Tomorrow we’re...

Merry Christmas!
Here are some pictures from when we decorated our Christmas tree. The kids have been busy making decorations for the past three months or so, which is why the end result is a bit cluttered… :)  I wish you all a Merry Christmas!

Ester likes Pippi and jigsaw-puzzles
Or both at once.  I’m off to work now. Last but one day before a 2,5 weeks long holiday. Yay!

Stockholm shopping
This weekend I went to Stockholm to visit some good friends. I also did some Christmas shopping:  A second hand jewelry box/mirror for Eo and a handmade and fair trade bracelet for myslef, from Afroart.

Glad Lucia!
It’s been a busy fall for me, which means it’s been unusually quiet here. Now I’m hoping for a change. Today I’m working from home, just me and the cat. Happy Lucia to all of you!

Making salad
Every Wednesday night we have dinner with five other families who are all our neighbours. We take turns in preparing the meal. Last time it was our turn to make salad and dessert. Eo and Ester made the salad almost all by themselves.

Autumn
These pictures are from a couple of weeks ago, and something’s really changed since then. Autumn’s definitely here now, a season I really enjoy. At least before everything turns all grey and dark. Today it’s really chilly outside, but the colors are beautiful.

This morning
Images from our apartment this morning; the Brainy Smurf outside of his little smurf house, a corner of our bedroom - more tidy than usual, pot plants in the window and two tired kids in the sofa watching morning television.

Majorna-dagen
Yesterday was Majorna-dagen here in our neighbourhood, with live music, food and a local fleamarket right outside our house. Ester and I put on our sunglasses and went to have a look. We had hot dogs, listened to cool music and made some nice bargains: children books, a chair (just 10 crowns!), shoes and a very fancy toy-ride. The last one wasn’t really that cheap (200 crowns - probably...

Space
The best thing about the new clothes drying racks above our laundry machine is probably that we no longer need to have a semi-permanent drying rack cluttering our bed room. The room feels really airy without it. :-) Normally I can’t get to this corner of the room (the drying rack always used to sit right in front the clothes rack):

Lunch view
I’m working from home today, it’s a lovely sunny day and I just had my lunch out on the balcony - with this view:  Tonight we’re going to see Håkan on Liseberg - a perfect start on the weekend!

The house of Susanna Vento
I’m into a lot of Finnish blogs and bloggers right now. Is there a typical Finnish style? I’m not sure, but if so the house of Susanna Vento, might be a good example. A lot of black-and-white, with a little bit of color added. I could move right in! :) (images by Petra Bindel via Dwell)

Our internet connection is failing us right now. So therefore I can’t upload any new pictures, which is too bad since I wanted to show the new drying racks we’ve just put up above the washing machine in our so called laundry room (a minimal bathroom with a washing machine where there used to be a shower). It’s very much compact living in there; we’ve squeezed in washing...

Quiet
I’ve been quite busy since I started working after my vacation and it’s been a bit quiet here. Don’t worry, I’ll be back soon. Here’s some pictures from the last couple of weeks. Also, check out Babiekins magazine, where Ester’s room is featured under Room envy.

Design for Life
This weekend we’ve visited a design marked here in Gothenburg, where we discovered Linn Bjelkne and Design for life. I really like her simple and ingenious idea to remake old winebottles into candlesticks, glasses and vases. (image Design for Life)
