Quilt from Lullaby
I got this package in the mail today. A quilt I bought for my daughter Ester from Lullaby, yet another shop where you can get lovely things made out of re-used vintage fabrics. A baby can never have too many quilts, now can she? ;-)

We’ve been away for the weekend but now we’re back home. Yesterday we put up some stars and candleholders and the apartment feels much cozier at once!
Here are some nice pictures I stumbled upon, by someone called Candi Mandi. Lots of retro dressers and sideboards which I really like.

Right now it’s typical november weather here in Gothenburg, which means it’s really dark, rainy and windy - so it feels good to look at pictures like these, filled with bright colors and light, to remind myself of summer.

Sewing machine melt down...
Finally decided upon a layout for my patchwork blanket; I’m going for one which mixes triangles and squares, something along the lines of this:
And then, just when I was getting up to speed, our old sewing machine broke down! Probably a sign that now’s the time to once and for all learn how that expensive overlock machine we bought a couple of years ago really works…

Christmas calendar
Just when I had decided against us having this kind of christmas calendar (I just wasn’t ready to sign up for finding and wrapping 24 smalI presents, well since we have two kids better make that 48, every year for the coming 18 years or so…), I found this neat little DIY-project, from the same source as the lamp cover. And I really love this christmas calendar:
I’m gonna have...

DIY - Crocheted lamp cover
Even though I like rice lamps just the way they are, I find this crocheted rice lamp cover by Pickles amazing:
Found it via DIY OR DIE at Elle Interiör.

Another ecological favorite
Gothenburg-based Duns is one of my favorite brands of children clothes. All of their fabulous unisex clothes are made of GOTS-certified organic cotton.
Check out this cool mushroom print:
Or this dress:

Sustainable christmas shopping
A part of making my lifestyle more sustainable includes trying to reduce my shopping radically and, for the things I really need (or still really want…) I try to buy second hand or find an ecological alternative. But, I must admit that when it comes to christmas presents, I’ve been a bit more sloppy than usual. It’s hard not to get carried away with the whole christmas spending...

Alternative patchwork layouts
Ok, so no I really can’t decide how to put the pieces of my new patchwork together. the first layout was this one. But perhaps I should go for a more random layout?:
Or another kind of symmetry?:
Or this classical patch-work pattern (but if I should go for this I probably need to exchange either the red mushroms or the purple flowers to make it all the way):
Another idea I have is...

Attempt number two...
I’ve started on another quilted patchwork blanket for Ester. I think I have finally decided how to arrange the pieces. Since they are quite big I want to have a pattern and not just random placement. What do you think?

Scarves
I went ahead and ordered two of those really cool scarves from florin I mentioned before. There made out of vintage fabrics. Check ‘em out!

A dresser for Ester's clothes
Since our youngest daughter Ester won’t have any wardrobe in her new room, we started to look for a dresser for her clothes. Found this one for a mere 600 SEK on blocket (a swedish second hand shopping site) and it was so perfect we decided to get it in advance. We even got it home delivered.
Up until the move it got a temporary placement in our home office/sewing room. Unfortunately our...

It's all in the details
The last couple of days I’ve been coming up with a lot of small details that I imagine will make life so much easier (hmmm…) in the new apartment - like having the space for an old-fashioned plate rack for example.
(image kitsch.se)
Can’t believe I’m actually looking forward to buying and having a plate rack? Am I that boring (old)?… Perhaps this is just a sign...

Kids room including teepee
I found this kids room via Smile and wave and it looks amazing. Check out the teepee tent. Must be really cozy to have a tent in one’s room?

Phew - apartment sold
The past few weeks have been pretty intense - but now we have finally sold our apartment. Phew!
Time to start focusing wholeheartedly on the new one. In fact, we’re going over there right now to have a second look and take some measures. One of the changes we’ve discussed is buying a new refrigerator. And while we’re at it why not splurge on one from SMEG?

DoreDoris on Dos Family
I really like the blog DoreDoris so I was very curious when I saw that Jenny from Dos Family had made a visit to the blog-owner’s home. Her house seems to be just as cool as I had imagined - filled with second hand/vintage furniture and details.
I really like the white kitchen with loads of bright red accents, especially the kitchen chairs. I love bright colors but would probably not go for...
