Happy new year everybody!
I hope you’re all celebrating properly. :-) I’m at home with my family having a very calm and quiet new years. Been away for a few days celebrating a second christmas with Johan’s family in Värmland. Here are some pictures of a very cold and snowy Karlstad:

Jonas Ingerstedt in Family Living
Via emmas designblogg I found photographer Jonas Ingerstedt. Recognized some pictures from the last issue of Family Living (a great magazine that far too seldom updates its website with new pictures) that I really liked:

Finally done!
As much as I love Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, which we usually celebrate with our extended family, I also just love the lazy days afterwards. When you can just stay at home with your closest family and read books, play with all your new toys (like Super Mario on Nintendo Wii…), take it easy, or, like me, finish some of your hobby projects.
Yes, I’m finally done with the patchwork...

5 minutes too late
Our local used book store has had this really cool old movie poster, “Jour de fête”, in their window for the last couple of weeks. I’ve been walking past it almost every day thinking that maybe I should go in and buy it? Well, yesterday evening I finally decided that it was time to stop thinking about it and just do it. This afternoon I went in only to discover that it had been...

This danish kidsroom I found on ohdeedoh is really nice, filled with second hand and vintage stuff:

The cardigan is finished!
Finally finished the cardigan that has been on my todo-list for the last couple of years! I was pleased to see that it still kind of fits my oldest daughter, Eowyn (it’s a little bit smallish perhaps but it’s quite streachable). If it looks a bit uneven it’s probably because both my mother and I have knitted on it. I don’t need to mention that none of us are good at...

Not surprised...
…but very disappointed that the COP15 climat meeting in Copenhagen doesn’t seem to lead to anything concrete at all…
Makes me think of a great documentary (uppdrag granskning) I saw on Swedish TV a couple of weeks ago. It’s about how the leading politicians in our country are very inclined to make big but empty speaches about how we all must put in an effort and work...

Super Mario Christmas!
I’m pretty sure it will be a Super Mario Christmas for us!

ToDos
My new sewing machine is really great. Got some work done this weekend so now I’m actually starting to see the light at the end of the patchwork-tunnel.
Here is a little list of some of my other work-in-progress and pending projects. At least some of them seem easy and quick, which is a good thing, because I’m kind of tired of big projects. :) (Not to mention that we have a move...

Christmas dinos
If you haven’t already, soon it’s time to decorate the christmas tree - I wouldn’t mind putting up some dinosaurs in mine!

Second hand shopping deluxe
I’m getting better and better on finding second hand or sustainable alternatives for most of my shopping these days. When it comes to my own clothes I’ve been a bit more lazy but I certainly don’t buy as many things as I used to do, instead I try to find things of good quality that I know that I can keep for a long time. Today I bought something for myself on tradera (a swedish...

Mission impossible?
As I mentioned before, I really want a new (or second hand) sofa. Unfortunately it seems pretty impossible to find a practical sofa when you have both kids and a cat. Currently we have a leather sofa, which would be a great choice, unless the cat kept using it as a scratching post.
The other day I found this wonderful sofa on Blocket:
But I guess we’re gonna be realistic and not go for...

Paint it pink
Note to self: Next time you invite your 2,5-year-old daugther to paint with you, make sure you cover a BIG area with newspapers…

Birthday
Yesterday was my birthday. I celebrated it with my wonderful family by making homemade pizza, watching a Pixar-movie and building lego-houses and cars (my 2,5-year-old daughter can focus on the TV for about 20 minutes before she wants to do something else - which probably is a good thing).
And I got some really nice presents:
A new sewing machine - yay! Even though I sort of fixed the old one...

Shelf in a closed doorway
I really like it when you make closed doorways into shelves. We’re gonna close a doorway in our new apartment, so this serves as good inspiration:
This shelf, made out of kitchen cupboards from IKEA, is also way cool (and the Helvetica-poster…):

The crocheting trend
I don’t seem to be the only one who has or wants to take up crocheting right now - seems to be quite a trend (or perhaps it’s just that I’m that age…?).
Here are two fun and inspiring news on that topic. First off is the fact that Annika, who has the nice blog virkverket, is going give out a book. I’m really looking forward to reading it!
Secondly, Erica Laurell,...

Failure counts as done.
I’m done with my first ever knitted hat. It was supposed to be a christmas/Santa Clause hat for my 6-months old daughter. It turned out like this:
Do I need to say I did it without following a knitting pattern (and in my first draft I was actually gonna make it twice as big…)? Lucky for me, according to the Cult of Done Manifesto failure counts as done so - I’m done!

Studio Aandacht
Found studio aandacht, via the style files, and they have some really nice photos in their portfolio. Like this one:
We have a black-board like the one above in our current apartment (ours is painted with magnetic paint and then blackboard paint) and I really want to have one in our new apartment as well.

Is bigger always better?
Just like the author of elements of style I like small spaces (although I can’t say I share her fascination of tiny objects). Unlike most people I know who seem to think that bigger is always better when it comes to living space. For myself it’s both that I find it easier to live my life “green” if I don’t have to much space to fill up with stuff I don’t really...
