Danish style
Why is it that our neighbors in Denmark are so good at interior design? I really love the Danish style this apartment represents. Put one of Smeg’s refrigerators in any kitchen and it looks good (well this one wasn’t so bad even without it)! Even though I got over my pink-period when I was twelve or something, I wouldn’t mind having a pink bathroom! (images via Bolig...

My favorite interior design books
Ironic enough my favorite books in interior design are in Japanese, so I can’t even read them. But that doesn’t matter, since the pictures are just amazing. I bought Stockholm apartments and  Stockholm’s love apartments from Paumes at Designtorget a couple of years ago: The books can be found at Paumes website (I don’t think Designtorget has them any more). I don’t...

A really interesting blog
Via Saša’s blog I found my way to a really interesting and good blog about gender and feminism (in Swedish): Linus Fremin. Check it out!

Second hand inspiration
I really liked this apartment, that appeared in the latest number of the Swedish magazine Hus & Hem: According to the article the owners love to shop second hand and have bought many of the furniture on blocket, in second hand stores or at flea markets. (images via Hus & Hem)

Attempt number one
I really like patchwork bedspreads, especially with reused fabrics from the sixties and seventies. Since they’re quite expensive and hard to get by I decided to make one myself a while ago. It was quite timeconsuming, and I’m not 100% satisfied with the result but I guess it wasn’t too bad for a first attempt. Next time (if there will be a next time) I will use more colorfull...

Second hand shopping
Today we went to two different second hand stores, and even though we got there a bit late we did find some nice stuff - 3 books, 2 jigsaw puzzles, 1 tray, 1 old box of letter stamps (I really like the look of the box) and a pair of red-and-white dotted pants for Ester. All for the very reasonable price of 80 SEK - that goes to chairity. There! Shopping you can feel good about. :-) What we...

The photo-collage is back up
Before the estate agent’s photographer shot our apartment we removed a photo-wall with personal photos from our hallway. Today we put it back up again (or at least something similar), and the hallway feels more homey at once. I really like collages.

A great home found on Sköna Hem
Found these pictures on the Swedish magazine Sköna Hem´s page with inspiring reader homes. This home belongs to someone called Mia, who seems to have exellent taste :) I especially like the hallway, we´ve been thinking about buying both the wallpaper, the lamp (in a different color), the chair and the “Hang it all” coat rack but in the end we´ve gone for other (cheaper) alternatives....

A little care from Granit
The Swedish shop Granit is perhaps best known for their neat storage solutions. Some time ago they also introduced a clothing section, with basic garments made out of ecological cotton for both women, men and children (check out the black-and-white striped pattern - the children pants are really cool!). Now I discovered (via Sköna Hem) that they’ve started a new project called Granit Omtanke...

Another one of my favorite artists
Recently I’ve become very fond of Angelica Wiik: Her colors and motives are just amazing! (images from www.angelicawiik.se)

Leave the car at home tomorrow?
Gothenburg city, where I live, has a challenge going on this week, where they encourage their own employees, as well as the rest of us, to leave our cars at home and take the bus, bike or walk to work for one day. The argument goes that the traffic situation in our town (where traveling by car has increased by 350% since the sixties while traveling by public transportation nearly hasn’t...

I wish my workspace looked like this
I really like my work but sometimes I wish that my workspace could be a little bit more inspiring… Working in the IT-business (and not with design) the best I can hope for is a cubicle of my own to style. I can only imagine how much more fun going to work would be if my office looked something like this one. Perhaps something for the home office? (images via design sponge)

The season is over...
So I guess I won’t be getting these from Swedish Hasbeens, but I really like them. And they’re even sustainable. Anyways, I never wear high heels (nope - can’t walk in them) so perhaps it’s just as well… (image from Swedish Hasbeens)

5 things I would like to hang on my walls
1. Roadsign by Mikael Richter reading “Allt kommer att bli bra” (“Everything will be ok”): 2. “Hang it all” by Charles and Ray Eames/Vitra (available for example here): 3. One of Nina Hemmingsson’s comic strips, like this one “Magiskt” (available in limited edition from Andyland): 4. I wouldn’t mind having a few of Jessica...

Saša Antić-styled apartment for Residence
I first saw the pictures of this apartment, styled by Saša Antić for the Swedish magazine Residence, on emmas designblogg a couple of months ago and found it just amazing. I love just about everything about it, the floors, the mix of old furniture and accessories in bright colors, the bookshelf (did I mention I love books?), the sofa with the many pillows (an ongoing discussion in our home is how...

Retro Villa style
I really love everything that the danish interior designer Mette Helena Rasmussen, with the brand Retro Villa, does. As a result of using old, recycled and made over furniture, her interiours are both personal and stylish. I especially like the idea of reusing old stuff instead of buying everything new. When I look at the pictures I get really inspired to do something like that myself (as...

Apartment pictures - by Stadshem
These are the pictures that the estate agent’s photographer took of our apartment. The lighting and colors are much nicer than in the ones I took with my camera. The apartment’s not for sale just yet, but hopefully soon. :-) (all images by Stadshem’s photographer Janne Olander)

Nice rugs from Bolagret
At my last visit to Bolagret, I spotted two small, black-and-white rugs that I really liked: In size 60x90cm they cost only 69 SEK. According to the web site the last one seems to be available in a bigger size (140x200cm) as well - perhaps something for our livingroom? (images from Bolagret)

Does limits make you more creative?
Some people are probably creative by default. But for me, I get more creative when there is a (harder) problem to solve, so setting up limits seem to boost my creativity. When it comes to our apartment, we have a limited amount of space (who doesn’t really?). It’s not that it’s really that small, but most of our friends (at least the ones with kids) seem to have fallen for the...

Interesting discussion on living in the city with...
Johan and I stumbled upon the organisation YIMBY, short for “Yes in my backyard” (in opposition to “Not in my backyard”/NIMBY, an expression refering to people that are negative to changes in their own neighborhoods), a while ago, and we seem to share most of their ideas. I love the city and living in it. I also think that from a sustainable living perspective it’s a...

DosFamily challange - the whole family in one...
DosFamily posted a challange a couple of days ago - to go out and take a family photo. So here we are, everyone except the cat (who didn’t want to participate…) - Ester, Eowyn, Johan and me! All gathered in our favourite place - the sofa…

A great kidsroom
My plan for today was initially to start up with a “pimp-my-stool”-project (I found this nice little stool on a fleamarket - some vintage wallpaper and paint will suite it perfectly). However, instead I got stuck here in the sofa, surfing… Well well, the advantage of being on parental leave is that there is always tomorrow! In the mean time, here are some pictures of a very nice...
