More storage needed
One of the big problems with our new apartment is storage. Like most families we have a lot stuff that we just don’t have anywhere to put, mainly because we left the hobby room shelves in our old apartment behind:
We still have our living room bookshelves of course but they don’t fit anything more than just our books (and barely that even, I think we have like 6 boxes on the attic...

What a week...
This week has been really busy, with the big move and all. We picked the snow-slushiest day all year for our move, but managed to keep the apartment pretty tidy anyway. A hidden perk of living on the third floor perhaps?

This weekend we’ve cleaned the new apartment before the move.

Choosing a new rug
We’re in need of a new rug for our new livingroom. The one we have now has seen its best days (but will probably live on under the dining room table). I would really like to have a big rag rug but can’t seem to find any in the size and color I want, that doesn’t cost a mere fortune. Like the wonderful Kevin rug from Kateha:

In the middle of moving chaos

I really love this Danish home that I found via stylist Johanna Flyckt’s VINTAGE blog. Apparently it used to be an old car repair shop. Check out the window in picture number two - that’s really beautiful.

Grocery shopping online
Finally they’ve opened an online grocery store with home delivery in my hometown, Gothenburg. I’ve been waiting for this since forever (well not exactly but a little while at least…). If you can’t walk or take the bus to the grocery store, but have to drive your own car, home delivery is a much greener choice, and it saves you time as well (although probably not money). But...

Turquoise door
One of the things that I don’t like about our new apartment are the ugly doors. Most of them are very boring, white doors, probably installed when the apartment was renovated in the 90-ties. Currently I’m very happy with basically all aspects of my life; I have a fantastic family, an interesting new job, we’re moving to a new apartment in a part of the city that I really like - feels like I’ve arrived at the sunny tomorrow. :-)

Keeping my feet warm
It’s been really cold this winther, so I’ve been on the hunt for new pair of boots that are both warm, comfortable, ecological/sustainable and that look fairly nice (of course). Another cool apartment
I remember seeing this apartment in the magazine Hus & Hem a while back and I really like it. Especially the kitchen with the checkered floor and Smeg refrigerator (btw, we’ve finally made up our minds and ordered our own Smeg - exactly like the one below) and the bathroom, with the wooden floor. Not very practical I guess, but it looks amazing. And the shelves/hangers in the bathroom...

Yesterday I started working again, after almost eight months of parental leave. In fact I’ve switched jobs in the meantime so I went not so much back as to an entirely new workplace. I must say that it feels great to be back at work and I’m really inspired.

The tabletop has the “virrvarr” pattern designed by Sigvard Bernadotte. It’s very practical, supposedly you can put both hot and cold things directly on it.

…as Bob the Builder would say. Since we got the keys to our new apartment on Monday we’ve been pretty busy. We started out by tearing out most of the apartment’s floors…

Tomorrow...
Tomorrow we’ll get the keys to our new apartment - yay! Browsing blocket as we speak in search of a vintage kitchen table (prefferably from the 60ties), some matching chairs and a bedside table. If all goes according to plan we might have the first furniture in the new apartment by tomorrow night (although the move won’t take place until the end of the month). :-)

Smeg window shopping
We’re getting pretty close to our move now and the other day we went out to look at the Smeg refrigerator we’re thinking of buying. Unfortunately we got a little bit disappointed because it was kind of smallish. Perhaps we’ll wind up buying a more practical (i.e. bigger) fridge instead. Well well, they sure are nice though…
