1. Summer

We’ve been hanging at the summer house this week, enjoying some sunny weather for a change (the summer up to now has been really cold here in Sweden). But now we’re back in the apartment, as the rain is pouring down. Tomorrow we’re gonna visit a zoo in a town near by.

  2. More cushions!

Some fabrics (fair trade!) from Afroart arrived in the mail the other day - now I’m going to sew some more cushions.

  3.

  4. More kitchen sofas

As I mentioned in the previous post we’re trying to decide a color for our summer house kitchen sofa. I’m leaning against black at the moment. I think it would stand out nicely against the white wall. But, I could also go for dark grey, blue or green. Johan has actually switched and no longer wants to paint it white, since the he thinks the fabric we bought (from Åhléns btw) will look better against a darker color. Here’s a very nice dark blue sofa from the summer house of blogger Ylva/Darling things:

(We have also thrifted some stickback chairs for the summer house, like the white one above. These will also be painted - someday soon…)

And here you can sort of spot what seems to be a really nice black sofa, similar to ours, from the blog highway design

But then again, white is of course also really beautiful, even though we’ve sort of ruled that one out at the moment (but you never know!):

    Argh, decisions, decisions, decisions!

  5. We’ve found ourselves a second hand kitchen sofa for our little summer house. Now the question is - which color should we paint it in? I’m thinking black, Johan thinks white. Or perhaps something totally different? What do you suggest?

  6. Meet Ellis!

On July the third, we finally got to meet our very longed for new family member! Here’s little Ellis:

  7. Sewing pillows while waiting for the baby to arrive… This was attempt number one. Many more will follow hopefully.

  8. Rattan Armchair

My newest wish, which goes well with summer I think, is a rattan armchair. We have been looking at some options. Like this one from Hübsch:

…or, a little bit cheaper, Storsele from Ikea:

…or Monet from Sika design (which also has a foot stool to go along with it):

They are all quite similar, and at least the last two are very comfortable (I haven’t tried the first one). I wonder how resistant they’d be to our cat though?…

  9. Slowly we’re fixing up our little summer house. Focus until now has been on the most necessary stuff, like beds so that the entire family will have somewhere to sleep. The previous owners left a bunk bed, which is perfect for the kids, Johan and I (and the new baby…) will sleep in this area, which will double act as a sofa during the day. Two ikea beds and, hopefully soon, a lot of nice pillows. Time to get out the sewing machine!

We’re also looking for a classic kitchen sofa, with storage under the seat, so if you have any tips on someone wanting to sell one near Gothenburg, please let me know! :) (must be less than 185 cm wide…)

Oh and it’s only a little bit more than two weeks to go now before the baby (hopefully) arrives… OMG, time really has gone by so fast this time around… I only have four more days to work, then it’s time for some rest (?).

  10. Summer house owners!

If you’ve been following this blog for a while you probably know that I’ve dreamt of a summer house for some time. Therefore I’m thrilled to tell you that yesterday we became owners of a small summer house (kolonistuga) nearby! It’s situated close by the sea, about 8 kilometers from here. It has almost no garden, so it’s not much maintenance (perfect for us who’s not that into gardening anyway). And since we don’t own a car it’s really great that we can get there by bicycle or by bus in about half an hour. In the long run we have a lot of plans for it, but right now we’re just focusing on filling it up with the most necessary stuff so we can move in and relax. I’m really looking forward to spending lazy summer days there.
