Sustainable christmas shopping

A part of making my lifestyle more sustainable includes trying to reduce my shopping radically and, for the things I really need (or still really want…) I try to buy second hand or find an ecological alternative. But, I must admit that when it comes to christmas presents, I’ve been a bit more sloppy than usual. It’s hard not to get carried away with the whole christmas spending hysteria.

Therefore I was very happy when I found PlanToys. They make wooden toys from rubber trees that no longer provide latex, meaning it’s eco-friendly and sustainable. Besides using rubberwood they have also taken to other measures to make sure that the whole process of producing the toys is eco-friendly.

And, the toys themselves encourage children to think and learn more about sustainable living and the environment. Check out this ecological home, with wind turbines and solar panels on the roof for example:

Or this eco charging station, where you can charge electricity, which is generated from solar roof panels, to an electric car. Cool!
