Hus & hem

Family living is my favorite Swedish interior design magazine at the moment, but Hus & hem isn’t far behind, and they have a much more updated web site. Check out this beautiful house for example! I love just about everything about it, but most of all the yellow door.

Books in the mail

Today I got two new interior design books in the mail (thanks to I love Peggy for the book tip). Flea market style and Cheap chic by Emily Chalmers:

And the amazing “Vem ska trösta knyttet”, by Tove Jansson. For the beautiful pictures.

We also got I.O.U.: Why Everyone Owes Everyone and No One Can Pay about the financial crisis, which should be interesting reading.

Birthday

Yesterday was my birthday. I celebrated it with my wonderful family by making homemade pizza, watching a Pixar-movie and building lego-houses and cars (my 2,5-year-old daughter can focus on the TV for about 20 minutes before she wants to do something else - which probably is a good thing).

And I got some really nice presents:

A new sewing machine - yay! Even though I sort of fixed the old one by myself (the sewing machine repair shops seemed to think it wasn’t really worth fixing), it’s probably only a matter of time before it breaks down completely. I’m really excited about this new one, it seems to have a lot of nice features that the old one didn’t have. Hopefully it will come to much use!

I also got this book with loads of tips and inspiration on how to reuse and re-make things for your home. I often think these kind of books has tips that are either too far-fetched (like things made out of paperclips and such) or too complex to make yourself. At a first glance this book seems to have a little bit of everything though, some over-the-top things made by designers that serves more as inspiration and some easy tips you can do yourself.

The christmas candlesticks I got for myself at a fleamarket the day before. Very nice and retro, huh?

Coming home should be like christmas eve

Back home from a great week with lots of sun, relaxing and playing on the beach and in the pool. When we got home two packages waited for us, one for Ester and Eowyn, with these two super-cool little crocheted turtles:

Thank you, Alfred (and mummy Cia, who I suspect had something to do with it)!

For me there was a package from Yvestown with the Paumes-books I ordered some time ago:

Yay! They look really good at a first glance. Suddenly coming home to an october Gothenburg doesn’t feel that bad at all…

My favorite interior design books

Ironic enough my favorite books in interior design are in Japanese, so I can’t even read them. But that doesn’t matter, since the pictures are just amazing. I bought Stockholm apartments and  Stockholm’s love apartments from Paumes at Designtorget a couple of years ago:

The books can be found at Paumes website (I don’t think Designtorget has them any more). I don’t know if you can get them delivered to Sweden, but I think I’m gonna send them an email to check, since they have several other books that looks just as good! Hmmm, how much is a yen now…?
